Cape to Cape Track WA

Distance –   135km, but allow for diversions. This hike takes most people 6 to 8 days.

Where do I start – Cape Naturaliste Light House near Dunsborough.

Where do I finish – Cape Leeuwin Light House near Augusta.

The track is quite varied – sometimes easy and sometimes quite slow going especially if the sand is soft. There are rock scrambles. Overall this can be a challenging walk but many sections are quite easy. All of it is enjoyable!

There are buses to nearby townships such as Dunsborough, Augusta, Margaret River and Yallingup but you will need to take a taxi to the track from there.

Water can be obtained from the tanks at the campsites. However, the springs and tanks may run out after heavy use so always carry 2 day’s supply if camping. Check with the friends of Cape to Cape regarding water.

The best time to go is spring but you can do this walk anytime. Watch for hot weather in summer when water will be an issue and cold wet weather in winter. In September the spring flowers blanket the coastal dunes.

A wild, uninhabited coast line with majestic forests, cliffs, caves, headlands and rocky formations awaits the Cape to Cape hiker. The white sandy beaches, Karri forests, rocky beach side ledges and thundering surf mean this walk is always fun and interesting! It meanders along the whole length of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge, which forms the backbone of the Leeuwin-Naturaliste National Park between the lighthouses of Cape Naturaliste and Cape Leeuwin in the far south west of Western Australia.  The wildflowers in spring are amazing. You will need to do some preparation as uninhabited means small shops with few supplies.
